The Valley of Paper Mills, extending beyond the main centre of Amalfi, is a stunning terrain of dramatic cliffs, streams and waterfalls, a lovely landscape with a variegated vegetation typical of South Italy. From the early 19th century so many writers and artists of Grand Tour found in it an image which matched the Romantic ideal, and venerated the savage and solitary beauty of the Valley with the ancient ruins of mills and iron foundries.

From Agerola, a small mountain town at over 2000 ft above sea level, trail runs over the cliffs of Amalfi Coast up to Nocelle, a village located about 1300 ft above sea level and behind Positano. Path is almost entirely downhill and well-marked: anyway, it is advisable to wear hiking shoes and carry water, sun hat and hire a local guide of course!
